Increasing severity of flooding in African countries 2016-2018
The intensity of droughts and flooding in Africa has changed over the last years. According to a survey conducted in 33 African countries, floods had become more severe for 30 percent of the respondents. People from Madagascar, eSwatini, and Gabon were more likely to have observed that the floods were more intense between 2016 and 2018. Indeed, 67 percent of the respondents from Madagascar stated that flooding had became more severe, making Madagascar the country in which people perceived floods to have worsened the most.
